Radiation therapy device maker TomoTherapy Inc. said Wednesday it expects to report a loss for 2009 and said revenue is difficult to forecast given the weak global economy.
The company expects a loss between 60 cents and 85 cents per share on revenue between $180 million and $210 million. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters have predicted a smaller loss of 28 cents per share on revenue of $201 million.
"Even though the company has improved its ability to project its conversion of backlog into revenue, it is particularly difficult to predict the effects of certain external factors such as construction delays and credit issues, which can also affect the timing of deliveries," TomoTherapy said, in a statement.
Shares fell 4 cents to $2.45 in after-hours trading after closing unchanged at $2.49 during the regular trading session.
