Medtronic completes buyout of Ablation Frontiers for Medical device maker Medtronic Inc. said Friday it completed the buyout of privately held Ablation Frontiers Inc. for $225 million upfront, plus future payments.
The buyout adds to Medtronic's offering of treatments for abnormal heart rhythm.
Carlsbad, Calif.-based Ablation Frontiers will become part of Medtronic's new AF Solutions unit.
In November, Medtronic bought Montreal-based CryoCath for $325 million, also adding heart treatments focused on abnormal heart rhythms.
