Hospital operator Tenet Healthcare Corp. said Friday it signed a multi-year agreement with Blue Shield of California covering its remaining hospitals in that state.
Tenet did not disclose terms of the agreement, which covers 13 hospitals and three ambulatory surgery centers. Tenet, based in Dallas, said the agreement went into effect Jan. 1.
Tenet has two hospitals in Los Angeles, and one each in Palm Springs, Manteca, Modesto, Fountain Valley, Indio, Lakewood, Los Alamitos, Placentia, San Ramon, San Luis Obispo, and Templeton.
Tenet sold most of its California hospitals in 2008, cutting back its presence in the state to 13 hospitals from 41.
Shares of Tenet shed four cents, or 3.3 percent, to $1.17 in Friday morning trading.
