IPC The Hospitalist Company CEO Adam Singer Named Physician Entrepreneur of the Year

IPC The Hospitalist Company, Inc, a leading national hospitalist physician group practice company, announced today that its Founder, Chairman and CEO Adam Singer, M.D. has received Modern Physician’s “Physician Entrepreneur of the Year” award.

David Burda, editor of Modern Physician, said, “Singer exemplifies the entrepreneurial spirit we’re trying to capture with this award. As a practicing physician, he saw a better way of delivering healthcare services to patients and spun that idea into a business that’s projected to generate more than $200 million in revenue this year.”

Founded by Dr. Singer in 1995, IPC has grown into the premier hospitalist company in the U.S., providing hospital medicine services to over 300 medical facilities in 18 states. Over the past thirteen years, Singer has remained true to his original vision of providing high quality patient care while improving efficiency and reducing costs. In January of this year, he guided the company through a successful IPO, making IPC the first hospitalist company to go public.

Dr. Singer remarked, “I’m honored to receive the `Physician Entrepreneur of the Year' award from Modern Physician. This award is recognition that IPC strikes just the right balance between the goals of a scalable, profitable organization and a relentless focus on providing each of our 800+ affiliated providers all the tools they need to provide high quality care to their patients. It is a tremendous validation of IPC’s business model.”

Larry Wellikson, M.D., CEO of the Society of Hospital Medicine, commented, “Dr. Singer’s award is an honor not only for himself and for IPC. It is also an honor for all 25,000 hospitalists, for it clearly demonstrates that we have come into our own as the primary engine of inpatient care clinically, economically and strategically.”
